The last week in July down has us wishing summer would never end. But alas, here we are more than midway through the summer, and celebrating Tia's birthday this weekend! Head to her Instagram, and send her some happy birthday love on one of her two accounts @tia_api or @thesunny16. She'll be spending her birthday watching her favorite movies projected on a screen in the middle of the Hawaiian jungle.
The end of July always brings an interesting new element to the Jana Lam studio. Lyon is out of school for the summer. For Jana that means a struggle to work as he is yelling to her from another room. For Tia that means a playmate. For Megan that means a break every 30 minutes to put on a new show for Lyon while Jana is napping Aili.
When his mom just can't leave the studio, there are usually two things you can find Lyon doing: constructing towers and houses with the 'blocks' that we use as weights, and collecting the wayward buttons, fabric, and pins that fell to the ground. But this week started out with Lyon apprenticing Tia as she stamped the leather labels we use for the Luxe by Jana Lam products. We are racking our brains for other tasks to delegate to our new intern. Any suggestions will be much appreciated.
In the midst of restocking our pop-up shop bounty for the Made in Hawaii festival next month, we found time to put together three collections of bright summer prints to restock some of our favorite stores. Head to Halele'a Gallery, Splash Haleiwa, and Shaka's 'n' Aloha in the next week or so for a fresh set Jana Lam clutches.
Did you know everyone's favorite Hawaii owned bikini store carries Jana Lam? Head to the Haleiwa location next time you're in the North Shore of Oahu.
Shaka's 'n' Aloha
A new store in the small town of Hana on Maui. We haven't been there yet, but from what we've seen on IG shop owner, Keala, has many of our favorite brands stocked.
If you are anywhere near Poipu, Kauai, you must go to Halele'a Gallery. They carry all your favorite made in Hawaii brands and artists. So much beauty and talent in one place!
You Ready To Do This
We love a good story teller in the Jana Lam studio, and Jimmy Fallon is one of our favorites. His mix of humor, impressions, and comedic timing is pure story telling gold. Jimmy's Prince tribute is one of the stories that has stuck with us. Though shared in a sad time, the story itself is too funny. We know it's a long one, but we swear it just keeps getting better and better!
As you may or may not know, our huge work table in the Jana Lam studio is a ping-pong table scored off of Craigslist Free. This story has us starting our days standing at the end of the ping pong table like, "you ready to do this" with our best Prince doe eyes.
