Don’t get in a pinch, close it with a cinch. The Drawstring is a mighty little rucksack that may take you back to the good old days but it gives modern with a chic shoulder strap and compact design. about the print
Lei Pūpule. The Lei print has been very popular the last few years. Like most trends, we initially shied away from it. However, it wasn't long before a client asked us to create one for their line. So of course I did, drawing traditional lei but with the little quirks of my style that might differentiate it from other lei prints. It turned out well, and we ended up making a second one for the client. I actually really enjoyed creating both of those prints and wanted to make another one for ourselves, but not something traditional. I wanted to draw the lei I would like to receive: a crazy lei with lots of different flowers strung together randomly, creating a medley of joyous fun. That's how Lei Pūpule came to be; I sat down, listened to some music, put pencil to paper and just drew strand after strand of flowers connected to different flowers, trying different combinations and seeing what they looked like, and playing around, having fun. And those are the things I hope people feel when they see this print: playfulness, maybe a little kookiness, and a lot of delight.
Fabric and Care
Fabric:
All Jana Lam Handmade in Hawai‘i textiles are silk-screened by hand on cotton fabrics with water-based inks. This piece is made from 100% cotton fabric that is reinforced with interfacing to give the fabric some shape with a soft feel.
Care:
The #janalamfam recommends spot cleaning when smaller spots show up. We usually use Shout Wipes for that, but Jana has used tide pens in the past. Make sure if there is a white top print to be a little more gentle on rubbing spots out. Since the ink sits on top of the fabric a bit more than other colors, there is a chance of the ink rubbing off and getting on other parts of the fabric.
But, you can put your Jana Lam's in the wash. We usually use a hand wash cycle and lay flat to dry. After it's dried, it is always good to give it a little bit of an iron. We use 100% cotton fabric, so it may shrink in the dryer, but will definitely stand up to ironing.
