Under a Coco Moon
For a long time I have wanted to make kids/baby clothes and accessories. If you scroll way, way back you may see two year-old Lyon sporting some black and white pineapple leggings. I went so far as to create a name and a logo for my new brand. But alas, time and cost always stood in the way of making it a reality. Then one day at a shopping event sometime in 2015 or 2016, I met Amber, the owner of Coco Moon, and within the next few months our first collaboration was set into motion. Seaflower Dream and Banana Leaf became our first prints to make their way onto her wonderful, super soft swaddle blankets At the time of its launch my little love hurricane, Aili Luna, though no tiny nugget at five months old, was still relatively wrappable. It’s so amusing to look back at the shots, and remember her curious expression at being bundled; because by no means were her father and I ever successful at swaddling her IRL. In the months that followed our first baby/momma photoshoot she began to climb onto things and would attempt to orate speeches before she could even walk. Earlier this year we reprised our mommy/mini shoot in the Golden Hibiscus Collection, and instead of being a bundled up burrito, this time she was a dancing, running, laughing 3 year-old in a swinging dress. As Aili has grown, so has Coco Moon and you can see it chronicled in her collection. She still sleeps and plays with her swaddles and quilts; her onesies may have been passed on to cousins or friends, but now she loves wearing all her “JANA LAM print” clothes, as she puts it; her flutter-sleeve shirt, her t-shirt dress and her toddler robe. I can’t wait to show her the newest pieces. She’s a big fan of rainbows, so she is going to love Seaflower Pineapple Sherbet. Seaflower Pineapple is a print from our signature collection and a customer favorite. I’m so happy to see it reimagined in the Coco Moon style, and it feels like for the tenth anniversary of JANA LAM, everything is kind of in essence coming together in a special way. What once was just a dream, is now a reality, and I hope that for years to come my kids and I will continue to use and wear and lay under our Coco Moon.
xx,
